Firebase volume one is the latest output from Neil Blomkap’s Oats Studios. It follows on from Rakka Volume 1, which was released 2 weeks ago.
Firebase is set during the Vietnam war and follows an American soldier, Hines, who is caught up in strange happenings.
It’s hard to describe the story without spoilers, but it kind of a mixes Apocalypse Now with Cloverfield to create a weird Vietnam / Sci-Fi / Horror mash-up.
As with Rakka the special effects are top-notch and are used to good effect within the story. It’s well worth a watch and leaves you wanting more.
From the trailers it looks like there will be at least two more “Volume 1” films coming out before the “Volume 2” films start arriving. I’m looking forward to seeing how this story develops.
