At last we have our first look at the new Blade Runner movie.
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
The trailer opens on a familiar looking industrial landscape with a voice-over:
Replicants are like any other machine. They’re either a benefit or a hazard. If they’re a benefit it’s not my problem.
The post-apocalyptic landscape of the next part of the trailer gives a different feeling, a completely different colour palette, and seems to be demonstrating that wherever Deckard is, he’s a long way from the LA of 2019 where the first film is set.
And the 2 characters interact with the tantalising lines:
“I did your job once. I was good at it.”
“Things were simpler then.”
Can’t wait!
