This short trailer for Ghost in the Shell gives us an idea of the fantastic special effects to expect from this new adaptation of the Manga / Anime classic.
Director Rupert Sanders doesn’t come with the greatest of movie back catalogues, with previous major outing “Snow White and the Huntsman” being somewhat underwhelming, but this thirty seconds suggests he has a solid eye for the spectacular in a sci-fi world.
Scarlett Johansson looks fantastic and her appearance alone will be enough to get a lot of bums on seats. Despite the controversy surrounding the “white-washing” of the Asian characters in the movie you can see why the studio would want a star of Johansson’s appeal. Her success in the Avengers movies makes her one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood right now.
We’ll have to wait and see if the plot lives up to the special effects, but there’s enough written in the world of Ghost in the Shell to make several movies. If this is suuccessful, expect it to be the first of several.
